Why I work at Big Duck:
The people. The passion. The projects.
What I think is just ducky:
Using the interwebs for good, my kitty, Brooklyn, brunch, classic movies
What really ruffles my feathers:
Closed minds, pork sneaking into “vegetarian” food, incessant whistling
Life before Big Duck:
was born an activist on Long Island, organizing to end hunger, prevent drunk driving, and fight other wrongs. I attended American University in Washington, DC, and my penchant for talking to strangers led me to fundraising and social marketing for the National Breast Cancer Coalition, Planned Parenthood, and public health campaigns for several federal agencies. I moved to San Francisco and dove into the wonderful world of online strategy. I connected with Donordigital, where I learned how to take supporters beyond the click. I returned to New York to master the science of nonprofit management at The New School and lead online efforts for Douglas Gould and Company. Now, in addition to being a Duck, I actively participate on the Communications Committee of the NYC Anti-Violence Project and help organize 501TechNYC—a monthly meetup for local members and friends of the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN). I love speaking and training do-gooders and am a part-time faculty member at The New School, where I teach “Online Engagement: Leveraging the Internet and Social Media to Increase Visibility, Raise Money, and Create Change."
Ask me about:
Raising lots of money online, managing your personal/professional brand in social media, creating a fantastic website, and the best places to eat and hang in Brooklyn.
