Jimmy, I think your staffing needs might depend a lot on the type of policy change you're trying to create. It'll be interesting to see if any other advocacy orgs respond here...

I'd be happy to talk about it if you'd like to set up some time. I'm Sarah (at) Bigducknyc (dot) com if you'd like to email me and we can connect directly.

Facebook is an excellent tool for fundraising since it bring the mix of social media. However, rather thatn just the Red Cross, in this case, having it on their facebook page, it would grow virally. The people who would put this on their facebook pages would be considered the influencers, bringing in their friends and family..

simply brilliant if Red Cross or any non-profit would green light that type of social media marketing

I work for a policy change (as contrasted to service provision) organization that has strong ties to a family foundation. We are just getting started in other development work. Rightly or wrongly, we don't perceive a great need for public support as we work on policy change, so we don't focus on mass communications. We seem to get meetings with most of the donors and policymakers we think we need to target, but have great difficulty creating change. What kind of communications staff would you think would do most for this kind of org? Or what kind of questions would help answer this question? Sometimes it seems that all we need is presentation coaching, as it's not clear what research would help us. Any thoughts?

Hello Rebecca, I am a computer information systems major who is very interested in infographics. I would like to know if there is any advice yo could give me in the form of starting a career in this field. I have some computer graphic and web design skills, but mostly I work from intuition. Any advice you can give will be deeply appreciated.

We were happy to host, thanks for summary, Farra! It\'s hard to take notes when you\'re trying to keep up the live twitter stream. I thought it was a good overview of the big picture concepts. One thing that didn\'t come up but was a topic at Charles\' Organizing 2.0 meetup, was the idea of embracing experimentation and failure as an organization. I think it was either you or Deanna who said \"apologize later.\" I\'m all for it, because if you\'re not failing, you\'re not trying.
