As nonprofits grow and evolve, so do their communications needs. However, many organizations struggle to fund branding, web, or other extensive communications assignments through their general operating budgets — especially during times of real change when work may be needed the most.
Many foundations understand this dilemma, and are increasingly funding marketing and communications work through grants designed to boost an organization’s capacity. (The Foundation Center’s online directory is one great way to find these funders.)
Big Duck has relationships with several foundations that have underwritten our work for their grantees, including United Way of New York City, the Robin Hood Foundation, and others. Because Big Duck cannot apply for grants or secure funding on an organization’s behalf, we typically connect with an organization after they’ve been awarded a communications-specific grant, or when a foundation approaches us to discuss the needs of a particular organization they are considering funding.
