A website that appeals to the public and professionals

The Project
Big Duck started with research to determine needs and opportunities, including a survey to ADAA’s email list, which revealed that users were more interested in resources and tools than in contributing their own content. We used the findings of our research, as well as user personas for each of the site’s key audiences, to inform the site’s structure and organization. Then we created a bold, hopeful website that used photos and quotes to make a personal connection, and clear calls to action to encourage people to get involved. We also applied the site design to an e-newsletter template to help ADAA build and maintain relationships with their participants and supporters.
The Results
In the first six months the site was live, the Anxiety Disorders Association of America saw notable improvements in their user engagement statistics—59% more pages viewed, 29% more time spent per visit, and a significantly lower bounce rate (people leaving the site immediately). The organization’s diverse audiences find the new site simple to use and navigate, and staff has a much easier time maintaining the site and making updates.
