The force behind New York City’s Charter Schools
Visual identity

The Project
Big Duck’s brandraising process involved creating a new visual identity and tagline (“It’s about great public schools”), rewriting the organization’s vision, mission, and values statements, and defining a messaging platform that could be used consistently. Big Duck trained staff to speak and write more effectively about their work and provided staff with a style guide. We created a new website that reflects the needs of several key audiences, including school leaders and parent advocates, with user-friendly navigation and language. We also created templates for email advocacy alerts, newsletters, and other correspondence. Lastly, our visual storytelling team created a powerful advocacy brochure that features illustrations to explain what charter schools are and why you should support them.
The Results
“Our staff got excited to finally get messaging they could use when speaking, writing, or presenting. We quickly found we were spending less time talking about what charter schools are and more time talking about the important issues. Even parents of students got excited: they loved the materials we gave them for our advocacy day and stormed Albany with gusto.”
