“Every nonprofit in the universe has an anniversary which to them is significant and to their core constituents is significant. But to the general public, who cares?” says Sarah Durham, founder of Big Duck, a communications company in New York that works with nonprofit groups. “Where an anniversary is helpful for fundraising is as a backup, when you are doing something else.”
