Why I work at Big Duck:
I am passionate about communications, and am in love with the opportunity to be part of an organization that uses them for social good.
What I think is just ducky:
Digital new media and technology; listening to music of all kinds, and moshing at punk rock shows; cooking good food at home; tea; feminism; laughter; Harry Potter (judge me if you like)
What really ruffles my feathers:
Lack of consideration for others; unproductive discourse; general rudeness and disregard for social etiquette; inappropriate use of the words “ethnic” and “exotic”
Life before Big Duck:
A recent graduate of the City University of New York Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College, I studied a bit of Computer Science and a bit more of Media Studies. I focused most of my academic time on web-related media, with a good bit of time on Women and Gender Studies as well. While in school, I had an internship at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. I also channeled my passion for building community into three years of service as an elected member of the Undergraduate Student Government of Hunter College, doing some of my most rewarding work with some of my best friends. I was lucky to have been able to work in environments that tapped into so much of what I care about, and now I am even luckier to have those things come together in one place at Big Duck!
Ask me about:
Web and tech related things, especially social media; intersectionality; Food Network; Queens and Long Island punk/pop rock
